The Choir's main function is to sing for Sunday services at the church. It is a mixed four-part choir of singers from all age-groups. We tackle many pieces in the standard repertory, including settings of Evening Canticles by Howells, Stanford, Sumsion, Noble, Purcell and others.
As well as regular Sunday services, the choir is often asked to sing at weddings and other special occasions.
Along side the regular Friday evening practice, there is also a Tuesday evening practice for the younger choristers, allowing them to work at different levels to improve their singing and general musical ability. We use the RSCM "Voice for Life" scheme which awards the singers for their ability, eventually bringing them to nationally recognised award levels.
The choir has also taken part in several tours to English and Irish cathedrals. Sadly, numbers in the lower voice parts do not allow us to do this at the moment, though we hope to be able to do so again in the near future.
