The Choir

St John the Baptist Church

Kingsthorpe, Northampton

On Friday 7th December Martin Heath from BBC Radio Northampton joined us for our choir practice, interviewed a few of us and recorded our choir in rehearsal. This was broadcast the following Sunday. On Monday 10th December we took part in the recording of the Carol Service at All Saints, Northampton. This will be broadcast on Christmas Eve at 6pm and Christmas Day at 9pm. We hope you will be able to tune in to one of the broadcasts.

We are looking forward to entertaining a large audience at the Brampton Halt on Wednesday 19th December, when we will be singing traditional Christmas carols and also Christmas songs.

The Festival of Nine Lessons and Carols will take place at 6.00pm on Sunday 23rd December 2018.

The latest music list is available by going to the Music Lists link.

Why are we different?

If you would like to sing in a good choir, offering high standards of music and training without the heavy commitment required by other local churches, this might be the choir for you. All that is asked is that you make and honour a commitment to practices and services you are able to attend.

Our choir offers opportunities for young people to develop their singing and musical skills. We use the RSCM Voice for Life training scheme, which also introduces elements of Christian training. If you are interesting in finding out more about singing with us, we would like to hear from you.

We would also like to hear from potential tenors and basses. If you would like to sing with a choir with a good musical tradition which does not demand too much of your time then please email the Director of Music Andrew Moodie =

Practices: Chorister Training for Young Singers 4.45pm - 5.45pm Tuesdays; Full Practice for Adults and Young Singers 6.45pm - 7.45pm Fridays
