The choir sings for two regular Sunday services:
The Sunday Morning Communion service, at 10.00 until 11.00 is a well attended, fun service. The choir leads the congregation in singing a regular communion setting, and a range of hymns, from the good old traditional to the more modern worship songs. The choir also sing an anthem during the middle of the service.
At 6.00, 3 Sunday evenings per month, the choir sings "Evensong". This service consists of a setting of the evening canticles (magnificat and nunc dimittis), a psalm, and another anthem, as well as a number of hymns. The choir has a very active roll in the service and it is an opportunity to sing some amazing works. Although the congregation is still largely involved in the service, it is also a good opportunity to listen to some beautiful music, making it an enjoyable evening service. This service doesn't take place on the second sunday each month.
Along side the regular Sunday services, the choir often (especially over the summer months) sing at weddings, usually on Saturdays. The roll of the choir is to lead the hymns and sing an anthem. This is a short, easy and fun part of the job, and quite often well paid!
